My goal is that by the end of the first year your child will know many Italian words and expressions! For example, in the morning both children and parents will be greeted in Italian, “Buongiorno, come stai oggi?” “Good morning how are you today?” Play is an important component of the program, coupled with activities such as: circle time, arts, storytelling, reading, music, singing, dancing, puppetry, and eating. The curriculum is presented through monthly themes, centered around the world of nature and cycles of the year.Outdoor time is also important and while playing I will still be emphasizing Italian playing: “bicicletta, automobile, casa, cielo”. I believe that the schedule will provide sufficient time to complete, express, learn, explore and revisit the projects with satisfaction. Repetition of new Italian words and concepts is very important in reinforcing the overall learning experience. In order to achieve the curriculum goals, the parents’ participation is essential. Every month the parents will receive a take-home sheet with all the new "Italian words of the month" to make them deeply aware of their children's experience during the Italian lessons. Parental participation is highly valued. The environment in Piccola Italia is serene, soothing, and encouraging. |
